About The Position

The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department will begin filling positions in April with some start dates following the end of the school year in late May and June. Positions will end in August up to mid-October and begin again mid-November through February if needed. The purpose of this position is to direct the operation and oversee public use of developed recreational areas, facilities and programs and possibly supervise seasonal park staff. This work is performed under the direction of various managers as dictated by season, service, events and departmental program needs. This position reports to Park Operations Manager(s).

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Possession of a driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Experience in customer service work desirable.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and supervises the seasonal park staff assigned.
  • Inspects recreational areas, equipment, and facilities.
  • Secures facilities after use and reports problems to Operation Manager(s).
  • Provides information regarding facilities and setup, events and staff.
  • Supervises the rental use of park buildings and is the first point of contact for facility users.
  • Inspects park grounds and structures for cleanliness, safety, and state of repair.
  • Reports all vandalism, unlawful behavior, or hazardous conditions to assigned supervisor.
  • Collects fees and receipts for various park services.
  • Manages weekly deposits and checks for compliance of pass and fees area.
  • Communicates problems or issues clearly with Operations Manager(s) and Recreation Deputies.
  • Responds to inquiries and resolves complaints and concerns from the public and staff.
  • May assist in conducting scheduling meetings with park users.
  • May assist with indoor ice arena and Wisconsin Valley Fair preparation and maintenance.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Benefits

  • Starting pay of $17.25 per hour.
  • Primarily weekend work on a day or evening shift with intermittent weekday responsibilities.
