About The Position

Museum of Ice Cream is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Assistant Facilities & Maintenance Manager to support the safety, functionality, and presentation of our immersive museum environment. This role partners closely with the Facilities & Maintenance Manager to maintain building systems, exhibits, and attraction-style elements. You will help execute preventative maintenance programs, oversee daily operations of the facilities and ensure a safe, clean, and seamless guest experience.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of facilities or maintenance management experience in hospitality, attractions, museums, entertainment venues, or similar environments.
  • Experience maintaining building systems and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience overseeing cleaning operations or environmental services.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and move objects weighing up to 100lbs.
  • Must be able to operate hoists, dollies, rollers, and hand trucks to move heavy exhibit components. In addition forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts.
  • Strong troubleshooting, vendor management, and organizational skills.
  • Possess basic understanding of accounting and finance principles.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk on your feet for long periods of time, up to 8 hours
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Nevada Health Card
  • OSHA Safety Training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support and assist with the upkeep of all facilities, ensuring spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming.
  • Maintain immersive exhibits, installations, and mechanical/attraction-style elements, including structural and technical components.
  • Execute and support preventative maintenance programs for building systems, exhibits, and equipment.
  • Perform regular inspections of guest areas, attractions, and back-of-house spaces to maintain safety and show quality.
  • Troubleshoot facility and equipment issues and coordinate repairs with internal teams and vendors.
  • Support installation and removal of activations, themed elements, and seasonal builds.
  • Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and parts inventory.
  • Assist with system activations and new installations, ensuring proper setup, testing, and readiness.
  • Support oversight of the Clean Team, ensuring all areas meet MOIC cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Maintain cleaning schedules aligned with operations and peak traffic periods.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections and ensure sanitation compliance.
  • Respond quickly to facility and operational issues while balancing team needs, workflow, and service quality; make sound decisions within established procedures and escalate when necessary; support and coordinate vendor relationships including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fabrication partners.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and local building regulations; maintain life safety systems (fire alarms, sprinklers, emergency lighting); support incident reporting procedures and uphold safe working conditions for staff and guests.
  • Supervise and support Facilities Technicians, Clean Team members, and vendors.
  • Contribute to recruiting and onboarding, ensuring new team members are effectively integrated.
  • Train, coach, and provide ongoing feedback to support performance and development.
  • Align team member strengths with scheduling and responsibilities to maximize effectiveness.
  • Maintain attendance tracking and team scheduling to ensure operational coverage.
  • Partner cross-functionally to support team success and operational goals.
