The Assistant F&I is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and acquiring pre-owned vehicles for dealership inventory. This role plays a critical part in maintaining an optimal mix of inventory to meet customer demand, maximize profitability, and align with the dealership’s sales strategy. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the used vehicle market, strong negotiation skills, and experience in wholesale, auction, or direct-from-customer purchasing. Key Responsibilities Assist the F&I Manager in structuring and securing vehicle financing through a variety of lenders. Present and explain finance, warranty, and insurance products to customers in a professional and ethical manner. Prepare and review all finance and legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with dealership, lender, and state requirements. Collaborate closely with the sales team to ensure a smooth transition from sales to finance. Submit deals promptly to lenders and follow up on approvals, funding, and missing documentation. Maintain strong relationships with banking and lending partners. Monitor and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws (e.g., Truth in Lending, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Safeguards Rule). Track performance metrics and assist with monthly reporting of F&I performance and penetration rates. Provide backup support when the F&I Manager is unavailable and assist with training sales staff on F&I processes and compliance.
