The Assistant Estimator supports the pre-construction team in preparing accurate and competitive bids. This role involves quantity takeoffs, subcontractor coordination, document management, and assisting in the development of cost estimates for various commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and eager to grow within the construction estimating profession.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree Construction Management, Engineering or similar technical training/field experience preferred.
• Knowledge of construction processes and materials.
• Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pre-construction team in preparing detailed cost estimates for all project phases.
• Perform material and quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and addenda.
• Help analyze drawings to identify scope requirements, constructability issues, and potential cost impacts.
• Develop bid packages, solicit and track bids from qualified subcontractors and suppliers.
• Review and compare subcontractor proposals for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain organized project files, including drawings, specifications, RFI logs, and addenda.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and subcontractor walkthroughs.
• Help compile final estimates and proposals for submission.
• Utilize pre-engineered metal building pricing & ordering software.
