About The Position

A well-established residential and multifamily framing contractor in Northern California is seeking an Assistant Estimator to support preconstruction efforts across active housing projects. This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with plans, numbers, and Excel, and is looking to grow within an estimating and preconstruction team. Requirements

1–3+ years of estimating support, construction admin, or related construction experience
Strong proficiency in Excel for take-offs, pricing comparison, and data organization
Familiarity with framing terminology, means and methods, and residential construction processes
Comfort reviewing plans and extracting quantities for pricing support
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and reliability
A team player who is eager to learn and grow within estimating and pre-construction

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing take-offs and cost components for framing labor, lumber, hardware, and related materials
Support development of detailed cost estimates from plans, specifications, and scope documents
Help assemble and organize bid packages and estimate backup documentation
Coordinate with senior estimators to solicit and track subcontractor/vendor pricing
Enter and maintain estimate data in internal systems and spreadsheets
Review architectural/structural drawings for clarity and potential scope impacts
Support tracking of lumber pricing, production schedules, and market cost trends
Assist with estimate revisions, change order pricing, and submittal uploads
Maintain historical cost records and organized estimating files
Participate in internal estimate reviews and bid strategy discussions
