About The Position

Under general supervision of the Equipment Manager, assists in the implementation of the comprehensive preventative maintenance for all equipment; performs minor repairs on a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment and assists on major repairs; assists in the adjustment, preventative maintenance, and repair of both reel and rotary cutting units; keeps all equipment in efficient, operable condition at all times; maintains a record of service and repairs; organizes and maintains a clean service area and maintenance building; and performs related tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment.
  • Skills in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and in the making of various types of mechanical repairs.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • General knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine maintenance and repair.
  • Must be able to learn basic skills in Hydraulic repair.
  • Must be able to learn basic welding skills.
  • Must be able to learn basic knowledge of turf grass management practices and operations.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. to a height of 3 ½ feet.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with weather and temperature extremes.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be available to be on-call at all times.
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in the preventative maintenance and repair of small equipment.
  • Must have a valid State of Colorado driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in small engine rebuilds, hydraulics, and set up and sharpening of reels and bed knives, preferred.
  • Golf Course experience also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance of many types of golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Maintains a complete record of preventative maintenance and repairs performed on equipment.
  • Inspects and diagnoses mechanical defects or failures in golf course and other District equipment; this includes general adjustment and minor repair of carburetors, ignition systems, starters, generators, fuel pumps, braking systems, steering systems, universal joints, hydraulic systems, engines, and differentials.
  • Assists in the training and development of other equipment operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Maintains an inventory of parts, tools, and supplies to assure availability and meet maintenance schedules.
  • Assists in rotary and reel cutting unit setup, adjustment, and maintenance.
  • Coordinates with the Equipment Manager and other staff members on the use and availability of golf course equipment.
  • Responsible for the safety of employees and the public during all routine maintenance and maintenance projects.
  • Properly dispose of contaminated fuel, waste oil, oil filters, and batteries as regulated.
  • Attend training sessions, workshops, staff meetings, and conferences as required.
  • Assures that tools and machines used in the shop are maintained and kept in good and safe condition.
  • Assists with equipment preventative maintenance programs of other District facilities.
  • Operates heavy and light equipment as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
