About the position

The Assistant Division Administrator for the Department of Medicine's Division of General, Geriatric, and Palliative Medicine at the University of Virginia is responsible for providing leadership in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and grant administration. This role involves directing fiscal operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and preparing financial reports for stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Direct the preparation of grants and contracts and ensure compliance with institutional, funding source, and federal guidelines.
  • Direct day-to-day fiscal operations and complete major financial deliverables, including budget preparation and financial reporting.
  • Monitor financial performance and prepare regular financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, GAAP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders to analyze trends and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to optimize financial performance and resource allocation.
  • Implement innovative solutions to enhance financial reporting, data integration, and decision-making processes.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team through mentoring, coaching, and professional development initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment promoting teamwork and employee engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or public administration and four years of professional experience in related roles.
  • Eight years of increasingly responsible experience in a related role may be considered instead of a degree.
  • Ability to plan, execute, assess, and improve an organizational financial planning process.
  • Exceptional skills in core software systems, including WorkDay Finance, QlikSense, Huron, and Anaplan preferred.
