GAI is seeking an Assistant Technical Manager for distribution-related work. This position will perform distribution design, technical guidance/mentoring/supervising of staff, design reviews, and implementation of all aspects relating to distribution design services. The successful candidate will manage a team of CAD Operators/Designers as well as work on various distribution design projects. The successful candidate will have the ability to work at the Collegeville, PA office 1-3 days a week.   • Manage, design, and perform QA/QC checks related to technical activities.
  • Manage, train, and mentor CAD Operators/designers to develop high quality project deliverables.
  • Responsible for the oversight of all CAD Design related discussions as well as coordination with other disciplines CAD leads.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews on drawing packages including 2D drawing sets for adherence to client standards.
  • Document QA/QC reviews, maintain record documents, and communicate information to the team.
  • Develop and/or revise 2D drawings.
  • Perform and manage 2D model creation in accordance with client workflows & standards.
  • Utilize and manage others in the usage of file management software in accordance with client workflows and standards.
  • Develop design specifications including the overall bill of materials.
  • Travel to other offices to meet with clients and attend project specific meetings on an as needed basis.
  • Manage tasks on assigned projects in accordance with GAI's high standards of project management.
  • Manage and assist with the development of scope of services and cost estimates for substation projects.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgment to determine optimal solutions.
  • B.S. in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states or the ability to obtain on a mutually agreed upon timeline.
  • 10+ years of applicable experience.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or DDS.
  • Resource management skills and ability to identify project barriers and mitigate them without schedule impacts.
