The Assistant Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of all Therapeutic programming and the Adjunctive Therapy programs (i.e. Treatment planning, treatment implementation, professional development, program development, and community education/referral development). Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

  • Directs patient care in a manner which ensures that: Standards of patient care and regulatory agencies are met,
  • Patients, significant others and associates are treated with dignity, respect and compassion,
  • Promotes quality of patient care through the following: Identifies and corrects actual/potential problems:
  • Recommends and selects appropriate indicators to measure performance,
  • Communicates QA I findings as required,
  • Interviews, selects, promotes and terminates staff per established hospital policies and Federal/State laws,
  • Provides for orientation in service training and continuing education of all people in the department,
  • Promotes staff effectiveness and competency through goal setting, role modeling and provision of learning opportunities,
  • Monitors continuity of care, length of stay, assists patients maneuver effectively within the health care system,
  • Evaluates the results of planned care for clinical appropriateness, effectiveness, and attainment of identified patient outcomes,
  • Manages a caseload of assigned patients in collaboration with other members of the treatment team,
  • Documents clinical data according to agency standards and protocols,
  • Integrates the department's services with the facility's primary functions,
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services,
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department
  • Master's Degree in Human Services Program such as Psychology, Sociology, Teaching, Recreation, etc.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience,
  • Knowledge of therapeutic programming and best practice models, including creative arts therapies, recreational, occupational therapies and interventions required.
  • Experience working with a variety of populations experiencing acute behavioral health and substance abuse symptoms is required.
  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Licensure or Certificate in the Human Services field such as Recreational Specialist or Art Therapy are strongly preferred.
