About The Position
Assistant Director – Full-Time Location: Gambrills, MD Bambini Montessori Academy Are you a passionate early childhood educator ready to inspire others and help young learners grow in a nurturing, Montessori-based environment? Bambini Montessori Academy is looking for an Assistant Director to join our warm, collaborative team and help shape the next generation of lifelong learners. About Us At Bambini Montessori Academy, we believe that every child is naturally curious, capable, and eager to learn. Our program blends the Montessori philosophy with a caring, family-like atmosphere — empowering children from infancy to age 5 to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. Your Role As our Assistant Director, you’ll work hand-in-hand with the Center Director to ensure that each day runs smoothly, staff feel supported, and families feel connected. You’ll play a key leadership role in maintaining quality, compliance, and community spirit.
Requirements
- MSDE Lead Staff qualification required
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education OR 90-hour Preschool Certification + 45-hour Director/Admin Course + 3 years of experience
- CPR/First Aid, Basic Health & Safety, and 9-Hour Communication Course
- Background check and medical clearance required
- Leadership or administrative experience in licensed child care preferred

- Familiarity with the Montessori approach a plus!
Responsibilities
- Support daily center operations including staffing, scheduling, and enrollment
- Coach and mentor teachers through observations, feedback, and classroom support
- Help ensure Montessori principles and MSDE/OCC standards are met
- Build positive relationships with families through open communication
- Lead family engagement events, tours, and community activities
- Manage records and assist with compliance documentation
- Step into the Director’s role when needed to ensure a safe, seamless environment
- Support onboarding, professional growth, and staff development
