As the Assistant Director, you’ll be a key leader in the daily operations of our early learning program, ensuring a nurturing, educational, and compliant environment. You’ll work closely with the Center Director and Program Supervisor to guide curriculum planning, mentor staff, and maintain the highest standards in child care and development.

Requirements

  • At least ECE State Certificate or approved equivalent
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience with children in early learning settings
  • Strong knowledge of child development and emergent curriculum implementation
  • Washington State DEL background clearance
  • Valid Food Handler’s Permit and First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Exceptional communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with computer systems for scheduling, invoicing, and reporting
  • Ability to lift and carry children and engage in classroom activities as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Prior administrative or supervisory experience in child care
  • Experience with Early Achievers or similar quality frameworks
  • Bilingual abilities

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Director with administrative tasks such as record keeping, child files, filing, outreach, audits and waitlist management
  • Supervising and supporting classroom teachers and assistants
  • Overseeing curriculum implementation and developmental appropriateness, in partnership with the Program Supervisor
  • Providing staff with professional development, mentoring, and performance feedback, in partnership with the Director & Program Supervisor
  • Ensuring compliance with Washington State licensing and Early Achievers standards
  • Maintaining a welcoming, clean, safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicating and collaborating with families and providing excellent customer service
  • Acting as the Center’s leader in the Director’s absence, in partnership with the Program Supervisor
