The Assistant Director, Transfer Admissions organizes, plans, and directs the work of the Transfer Admissions Evaluation Unit under the general direction of the Associate Director, Admissions. This position is responsible for the general operations of the admissions cycle, coordination of staff training, and dissemination of information related to admissions to prospective students, departments and colleges, and the general public. Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate workflow, carry out assignments without detailed instructions, train staff on relevant policies and procedures, and establish quality control guidelines.
  • Knowledge of online student information systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze system programs and propose solutions.
  • Knowledge of admission policies, transfer credit evaluations, and requirements such as: Verification/accreditation of post-secondary, grading policies, and scholastic standing on transcripts.
  • Transferability of coursework.
  • Calculations for transferable units attempted, units completed, and grade points.
  • Credit for tests (AP, IB, CLEP), military service, homeschooling or other types of non-collegiate instruction.
  • Knowledge of difference in units, grade discrepancies, and missing GE designators.
  • Knowledge of academic information to determine applicable rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with course catalogs, Assist.org, and college websites.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with supervisors, subordinates, peers, faculty, administrators, and staff.

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee the workflow of the Transfer Admissions Evaluations Unit.
  • Develop training for staff in policies and procedures, oversee team workload assignments, and monitor daily/weekly production of admissions applications.
  • Analyze and oversee admissions processing for designated populations; independently identify and resolve complex operational, policy, and data issues, and coordinate solutions across departments to support effective and compliant operations.
  • Oversee the development, analysis, and improvement of transfer admissions operations.
  • Serves as the primary operational resource for complex transfer admissions issues; and implement solutions in consultation with the Associate Director of Transfer Admission.
  • Coordinates cross-functional efforts to ensure consistent application of policies, data integrity, and efficient processing across university departments.
  • Represent the university to the public in admissions-related matters.
  • Collaborate with University Outreach and School Relations to provide admissions information to college counselors and prospective applicants.
  • Communicate admissions policies and updates to the Center for International Education and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) to support effective implementation.
