The Robert & Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts strives to provide the highest quality performing arts experiences for the University of Denver and the Colorado community. Each year the Newman Center for the Performing Arts hosts nearly 500 events serving more than 100,000 people from the community. The Newman Centers four stages feature performances of instrumental and vocal music from classical, alternative classical, jazz, pop, and countless world traditions, spoken theater, dance, and opera. Presenting an eclectic, innovative, and entertaining mix of emerging artists and seasoned performers, The Newman Center works to expand and enrich the community's cultural experiences. Position Summary The Director of Ticketing is responsible for the direction of all facets of the University of Denver Newman Center Box Office. This includes, and is not limited to: selling of walk-up tickets, scaling of the house, coordinating and distributing all season and subscription tickets, troubleshooting, and operating the computer ticketing system. The Director will supervise the Box Office Assistant Manager and the other employees in the box office. The Director also manages the box office budget and plays a significant role in oversight of the Ticketmaster contract. The · Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with all users and customers of the, box office. Essential Functions Oversee all aspects of the ticket services operation, including subscriptions, single tickets, group sales, and complimentary tickets distributed via phone, web, and in-person operations. Builds events for sale on the ticketing system (Paciolan). Supervise and assign tasks to the Box Office Manager. Assists Box Office manager with personnel and customer service issues as needed. Maintains current knowledge of ticket industry standards and trends by actively engaging with professional organizations and their meetings, conferences, trainings, and professional development activities. Advises the Executive Director and Director of Business Operations of national and regional trends and makes recommendations for marketing and business development strategies. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with external and internal clients. Work with Newman Center staff to implement effective marketing and sales techniques, ensure smooth event setup and management, and ensure efficient and accurate event settlement. Provide analyses of Newman Center sales and trends, using national and regional sales data to contextualize reports for Executive Director and other staff. Create database analysis reports for Newman Center staff, rental clients, Lamont School of Music and Department of Theatre as needed. Serve as the point person for Paciolan (box office software). Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with account representative and support specialist. Ensure adherence to, and maximum benefit from, the Paciolan contract. Coordinate with the Ritchie Center Box Office for shared functions of the ticketing system. Responsible for the development and implementation of all box office policies and procedures. Understand and support the annual budget creation process: forecast revenues and box office expenses, provide monthly trends in sales Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director, Newman Center for the Performing Arts. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and develop related spreadsheets. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, ratios, and percentages. Reasoning Ability: Ability to develop and interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to prioritize high volumes of work, make independent decisions, and ability to work on multiple tasks without direct supervision. Other Skills and Abilities: Minimum of two years budget or fiscal management experience; excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to work evenings and weekends required. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Four to six years professional experience in sales, marketing or related field; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years budget or fiscal management experience; excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends required.
  • Expert knowledge of ticket industry, and Paciolan or other ticketing system.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations.
