About The Position

The Assistant Director of Sports Medicine at Santa Clara University is responsible for developing, coordinating, and administering a comprehensive Division I sports medicine program for approximately 425 intercollegiate student-athletes. This role includes administrative duties, injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, while ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations and maintaining relationships with various healthcare professionals and stakeholders.

Requirements

• CPR Certification
• Certified Athletic Trainer
• OSHA and HIPAA knowledge
• Bachelor's degree in a related health field
• Master's degree in a related health field preferred
• 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred
• Basic computer skills
• Knowledge of FERPA, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and administering the sports medicine program for student-athletes.
• Represent Santa Clara University as the certified athletic trainer at athletic events.
• Conduct injury prevention assessments and design individualized programs.
• Evaluate injuries and refer to medical personnel as needed.
• Create injury management plans for student-athletes.
• Provide onsite emergency care at practices and events.
• Assist in policy-making decisions related to sports medicine.
• Manage the sports medicine operating budget and purchasing card transactions.
• Coordinate physical therapy schedules and appointments for student-athletes.
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations regarding medication dispensing.
• Organize continuing education symposiums for staff and students.
• Coordinate with compliance and academic representatives regarding student-athlete needs.
