About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director of Residential Education Operations. - Boca Raton, FL. The Assistant Director for Residential Education Operations is a member of the Residential Education leadership team within the Department of Housing and Residential Education. This live-in position directly supervises five Operations Coordinators, indirectly supports 100 Front Desk staff, and oversees residential front desk operations on the Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses. The Assistant Director for Residential Education Operations contributes to a university housing program that prioritizes student satisfaction, retention, learning, and engagement. This position participates in the second layer of the on-call rotation

Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Staff Supervision Directly supervise Operations Coordinators and provide direction to the Community Coordinator in Jupiter in their work with the front desk operation.
  • Provide indirect supervision to student staff members.
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, mentoring, development, direction, and feedback for direct reports and Front Desk staff.
  • Assist in executing full-time staff recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing professional development initiatives for Residential Education Operations, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and divisional standards.
  • Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and accountability across the Residential Education Operations team.
  • Incident Response and Risk Management Provide oversight for monitoring desk reports, Keyper, and on-call reports to ensure accuracy, consistency, and appropriate response path.
  • Ensure Residential Education Operations staff are well-trained in university protocols related to facilities, mental health, critical incidents, customer service, and student support services.
  • Responsible for fire drills.
  • Manage access control in partnership with SAIT and HRE Facilities.
  • Maintain key control/inventory in cooperation with HRE Facilities.
  • Provide after-hours support through participation in the on-call duty rotation.
  • Administrative and Operational Oversight Provide oversight of the residential front desk operations, ensuring consistent service delivery, policy compliance, and alignment with departmental goals.
  • Ensure compliance and accountability by auditing residential education administrative processes, including damage billing, time sheets, and front desk charge assessments.
  • Manage summer operations for summer camps, including facility readiness and check-in/out procedures.
  • Liaison to the Assistant/Associate Directors of Facilities for each zone.
  • Maintain department inventory of computers and cell phones in partnership with SAIT.
  • Develop procedural guidelines and manuals.
  • Liaison to the mail service vendor about residential student mail inquiries.
  • Program Implementation and Assessment Contribute to a comprehensive assessment plan encompassing satisfaction, retention, and student learning outcomes.
  • Utilize data and assessment tools to enhance the residential experience.
  • Campus Engagement Utilize data and assessment tools to enhance the residential experience.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in residential life, supervision, and student development.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
