The Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi is responsible for assisting in the formulation, planning, directing, administering, coordinating, and evaluating Pharmacy services and programs in a healthcare setting. This role promotes effective functioning and operations of inpatient, outpatient, and satellite pharmacies in coordination with other professional and administrative disciplines. The Assistant Director will also assume full responsibility and authority in the Director's absence.

  • Directs pharmaceutical personnel regarding compounding and dispensing of drugs, ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements.
  • Participates in the formulation and development of policies regarding drug evaluation, selection, procurement, storage, and distribution.
  • Assists in developing and implementing pharmaceutical service programs consistent with patient medication needs.
  • Collaborates in the development of records management programs related to pharmacy transactions and bookkeeping.
  • Assists in formulating and directing clinical pharmacy activities, including drug order reviews and patient care evaluation programs.
  • Helps develop financial goals and pharmacy budget based on system-wide initiatives.
  • Communicates and manages relationships across the system to promote staff engagement.
  • Assists in the selection and training of pharmacy personnel, reviewing their performance and making recommendations.
  • Works with the Director to maintain pharmacy accreditations and ensure compliance.
  • Develops training programs for nursing and medical staff regarding drug therapy.
  • Participates in the preparation and review of system-wide policies related to pharmacy initiatives.
  • Engages in community events as requested by pharmacy or system leadership.
  • Stays current with professional organizations and regulatory bodies affecting pharmacy practice.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Valid license and current registration to practice as a Pharmacist issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
  • Four (4) years of satisfactory full-time experience as a licensed practicing Pharmacist, with at least two (2) years in an administrative, managerial, or supervisory capacity in a hospital or medical facility.
  • Clinical hospital experience preferred.
  • Pharmacy and Therapeutic committee experience preferred.
  • Medication management experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Ability to learn current software applications used in practice.
  • EPIC experience.
