About The Position

Organization's Summary Statement: The Assistant Director of Video Production will work as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Video Services staff and report to the Director of Video Production. Responsibilities include supervising production shoots for the Broadcasting & Production office. Oversee a Production Assistant(s) to execute the video content plan for a fall and spring sport. Produce, coordinate, and, when needed, edit in-house video content for external and internal audiences. The applicant will serve as the lead content producer for Maryland’s Women’s Basketball program, creating social, in-venue, commercial, and recruiting video content. Responsible for videotaping events and athletic contests for inclusion in video content for a multi-platform distribution model. Conceptualize and collaborate with departmental units and coaching staff to produce compelling video stories across the athletics department, among other assigned duties. Work directly with student assistants, assist with scheduling their hours, and help them produce All-Access shows and social/digital video content for Olympic sports from practices and games. Physical Demands: The scope of the position frequently requires evening, weekend, and holiday work (non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and various office devices, including telephones, copy machines, and fax machines; frequently moves around the facility and event site before, during, and after events to assist clients; and consistently communicates with others via telephone, email, and in person to exchange accurate information. The position requires standing, walking, kneeling, or crouching, balancing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) year of experience in a professional setting.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics administrative structure and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of athletics policies and procedures and federal, state, and other applicable, related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize within unit and department environment as well manage large-scale athletics-related projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of experience in athletics, multimedia, broadcasting, or video production.
  • Collegiate or professional sports production experience with provable experience in 3D and 4D compositing.
  • Demonstrated ability in videography and lighting.
  • Proficiency with Mac systems and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to produce and create exciting audiovisual medium.
  • Collegiate or professional sports production experience in a fast-paced environment.
