About The Position

Assistant Director of Undergraduate Recruitment, Admissions THE OPPORTUNITY The Colorado School of Mines Admissions Team welcomes applications for the Assistant Director for Undergraduate Recruitment who will promote the general goals and mission of Colorado School of Mines through the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of a qualified undergraduate student body. The Assistant Director provides supervision and strategic oversight for undergraduate recruitment and outreach from general prospective student populations as well as transfer and international students. The position supervises undergraduate admissions counselors and will engage in undergraduate prospective student recruitment efforts, through actively communicating the benefits of a Mines education to prospective students, their parents, counselors, and other community organizations. The role reports to the Director of Admissions – Recruitment Strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Progressive experience in college admissions or college student services.
  • Valid driver’s license and current, valid personal auto insurance.
  • Strong project management, resourcefulness, use of good judgement, and the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Successful facilitation of projects as a member of a core team.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, responsibilities, and programs simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

Nice To Haves

  • Significant demonstrated experience managing an admissions recruitment team.
  • Experience using data to inform decisions.
  • Experience using admissions CRM, ideally Slate.
  • Knowledge of recruitment strategies for selective STEM institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Undergraduate Strategic Recruitment Planning (40%) Oversight of recruitment activity to support undergraduate admissions in conjunction with the director of recruitment strategy.
  • Utilize data to develop recruitment plans and set recruitment schedules, including office coverage.
  • Cultivate relationships with student recruitment influencers such as counselors, teachers, and access professionals.
  • Train and evaluate staff completing recruitment and outreach activity.
  • Coordinate the evaluation of recruitment and outreach activities in undergraduate admissions, utilizing data to inform recommendations regarding where resources should be directed to meet enrollment goals.
  • Admissions and Recruitment (40%) Responsible for setting the tone and expectation for excellent customer service to all prospects, families, and other constituents throughout the entire admissions funnel.
  • Ensure proactive, responsive, and timely outreach to students and families in all phases of the enrollment process.
  • Evaluate applications and transcripts to recommend admissions decisions.
  • Manage a recruitment territory; meet with and counsel prospective and accepted students within that territory and beyond.
  • Maintain compliance and adherence to all regulations and policies for recruitment, admissions, and financial aid within higher education and ensure the staff is appropriately trained and all processes, procedures, and policies are adhered to.
  • Represent Mines at scheduled college day/night programs/events throughout Colorado.
  • Provide support and coordination for on-campus visitation programs hosted by Admissions, including information sessions for daily campus visits and larger visit days.
  • Management (15%) Provide leadership and guidance to undergraduate admissions counselors, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Hire, train, supervise, encourage professional development, and evaluate undergraduate admissions counselors.
  • Manage the undergraduate admissions recruitment budget, including planning, administration, and quarterly/annual forecasting.
  • Manages the undergraduate admissions counselors regularly to meet scheduled recruitment goal objectives.
  • Other Duties as Assigned (5%) Other duties as assigned to meet the objectives goals of the program and/or Mines.
