About The Position

Under the direction of the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, the Assistant Director of Talent Acquisition is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Birch’s recruitment department, its recruitment activities and campaigns, and overall strategies in attracting a high-quality and diverse workforce. This position will also manage external strategic partnerships with colleges, universities, and other community partners for Birch’s student employment initiative, in hiring prospective graduating students for future employment. This role manages a team of three recruiters and an onboarding specialist.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Human Resources, or related area.
  • 5 to 8 years of progressive experience working as a senior level Human Resources professional, preferably in a NYS Education or OPWDD-funded programs, or other health, education, or human services environment.
  • 3 to 5 years of direct management experience.
  • Knowledge of SED Certification requirements, DOE/ DOE PETS system, and DOI notices regarding criminal history, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of State and OPWDD-related background check requirements.
  • Familiarity with credentialing process and requirements of education, nursing, and other licensed professionals.

Nice To Haves

  • PHR/SPHR or CEBS certification preferred.
  • Detail oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Strong analytical skills, and the ability to identify trends and recruitment benchmarking.
  • Working knowledge of Paycom or other HRIS systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and hiring managers to develop and deploy organization-wide recruiting and sourcing strategies that identify and secure a highly talented workforce to support the organization’s continued growth.
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve the selection process with integrative tools, interview guides, testing, and interview training that improves overall selection results.
  • Based on analysis and organizational goals, develop new recruitment strategies/methodologies for sourcing candidates, screening resumes, interviewing talent.
  • Evaluates and forecasts trends in the job market and talent/candidate applicant pools.
  • Manage recruitment performance measurements from established key metrics, maintain all supporting records and data.
  • Provide direct recruitment for managerial roles and highly specialized jobs and oversee hiring processes for all administrative office and C-level vacancies.
  • Support recruitment team by leveraging social media and recruitment job board Ads (LinkedIn, Indeed, and other tools; post to college boards).
  • Serves as point of contact and manages all external recruiting relationships, including executive recruiters, staffing agencies, current retained search firms, and independent contractors.
  • Oversees weekly calls with hiring managers/programs regarding open vacancies.
  • Run weekly queries of open vacancies for recruitment staff.
  • Manage Pre-Hire HRIS and applicant tracking systems to ensure efficiency and data integrity.
  • Develop and enhance the onboarding experience for all new employees.
  • Oversee and assist with career fair planning and efforts; attend internal and external off-site events.
  • Facilitate exit interview processes, analyze resignations, and propose strategies for retention.
  • Engage with external organizations to cultivate interdisciplinary recruitment projects between colleges, universities, and other community partners for Birch programs.
  • Establish strong working relationships with external talent sources to ensure the organization attracts students from colleges and universities, particularly those within human services and related-services programs.
  • Coordinate internal resources for campus visits, career fairs, and networking social events.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a tracking system for current and future external partnerships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
