The role is responsible for providing direct clinical services, overseeing a treatment program, and supervising counseling staff. This includes managing a clinical caseload, ensuring compliance with documentation, billing, and regulatory requirements (including OASAS and insurance protocols), and intervening in complex staff or client situations. The position also involves participating in meetings and committees, maintaining licensure and confidentiality standards, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and representing the agency professionally and ethically.

Requirements

  • Initiative, good judgment, excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of heroin addiction, methadone maintenance and detoxification treatment, the disease model.
  • Knowledge of the federal, state and local regulations governing methadone chemotherapy treatment.
  • Competent to work with clients appropriate to the setting of the agency regarding age and special populations.
  • Proficient with electronic documentation and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • LCSW or LMHC required with CASAC preferred.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of behavioral health, co-occurring disorders, and opioid use disorder treatment including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT).

Responsibilities

  • Will maintain a caseload as appropriate and will provide individual and group services as necessary.
  • Overall clinical responsibility of specific treatment program assigned.
  • Supervision of counseling staff, including completion of performance evaluations for the same.
  • Oversee compliance with documentation and billing requirements.
  • Remain current with OASAS regulations and new developments in changing health environment.
  • Remain current on protocols of insurance companies to facilitate coordination of program’s financial responsibilities.
  • Intervene with staff and clients in special situations
  • Attend meetings and serve on committees as necessary and requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information as required by law.
  • Competent to work with clients appropriate to the setting of the agency regarding age and special populations.
  • Maintain all applicable licenses and/credentials.
  • Collaborates and works well with team members in all areas to enhance the program as a whole and serve as a good role model for staff.
  • Represents the agency with an ethical, fair, and positive attitude.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
