Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Assistant Director of Student Services has the primary responsibility to assist in creating, coordinating and delivering comprehensive Student Affairs initiatives that support a dynamic and diverse student population at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI). The Assistant Director of Student Services will offer support with Student Accessibility Services; serving students, faculty, and staff to ensure students registered with Student Accessibility Services receive appropriate accommodations, timely communication, appropriate training, and a high level of service. In collaboration with the Dean of Students, the Assistant Director of Student Services will ensure the wellness of the student body. In addition, the Assistant Director of Student Services will be responsible for planning events, creating and implementing the student leadership budgets, and hiring and managing peer tutors. Assistant Director of Student Services will also create large scale institutional events to support students with their onboarding and offboarding (commencement). The Assistant Director of Student Services will also provide additional support through administrative operations, workshop planning, conduct one on one meetings with students, and provide guidance and support to student clubs.

  • Supervises the daily operations of the office.
  • Manages all student affairs related budgetary process, including handling invoices, reimbursements, etc.
  • Creates budget plans and expense reports for the Student Affairs Department.
  • Select, train, and supervise student affairs Graduate Assistants.
  • Create a robust tutoring service by strategically partner with academic programs to enhance our current structure.
  • Supervise, hire, and train Peer Tutors within the Student Affairs Department.
  • Oversee scheduling and the implementation of the tutoring services.
  • Respond to general inquiries from students, staff, and the public in a timely and professional manner.
  • Oversee Graduate Assistants in updating content on student-facing platforms such as newsletter, bulletin boards, and social media.
  • Develop and manage a strategic plan to enhance communication with students regarding all the services offered through TCC Services.
  • Maintains the calendar and testing schedules for all students registered with Accessibility Services.
  • Ensures all materials are received, and works as a liaison between faculty, students, and Associate Director of Student Wellness to coordinate, administer, and monitor exams.
  • Ensure exams are administered in accordance with approved accommodations.
  • Prepare exam proctoring materials ahead of the exam and ensure timely return of completed tests to instructors.
  • Troubleshoot basic issues that may arise during testing.
  • Works with the Division of Student Affairs staff to coordinate programs, workshop activities, and testing services.
  • Works with Student Accessibility coordinators to achieve departmental goals and complete projects.
  • Communicate with the SDRC to implement assistive technology accommodations.
  • Assist associate director of student wellness with student intake meetings as needed.
  • Maintain strict test security and student confidentiality protocols in accordance with FERPA.
  • Train and supervise student workers or proctors as needed.
  • Implements wellness response and CARE procedures for students in need.
  • Participate in the review and assessment of reports involving student behavioral concerns, threats, or distress.
  • Create and maintain data regarding students of concerns.
  • Attend regular CARE meetings to review and discuss cases.
  • Serves as the first responder to any Student Wellness submission.
  • Responds and manages student crisis incidents.
  • Serves on 'on call' duty rotation team.
  • Support campus-wide training initiatives on identifying and reporting concerning behavior.
  • Create and implement Interdisciplinary Day during the academic prologue.
  • Lead the Commencement Committee and facilitate the implementation of the KGI Commencement.
  • Training all clubs and organization student leaders related to co-curricular and extra-curricular programming.
  • Responsible for creating and managing all budget and expense reports related to student government, clubs and organizations.
  • Assess and create effective process related to event planning and student engagement opportunities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Seven or more years of experience in student affairs, counseling, accessibility services, or relevant experience in higher education.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal, time management, customer service and public relations skills.
  • Collaboration and presentation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, WordPress, Formstack, and Canvas.
  • Ability to navigate finance/budget program.
  • Work as a team, under pressure, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Regular, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position.
  • Salary range: $70,000 - $75,000 annualized.
