About The Position

The Assistant Director of Student Services, Virtual Campus, under the direction of the AVP of Student Engagement, Virtual Campus, or designee, leads and executes the delivery of student services functions to supplement and enhance the academic experience, student retention and graduation rates for the Virtual Campus. Specific functions include management of student advising staff, analysis and reporting of student registration, and provide oversight of new student orientation, and student issue resolution. The Assistant Director of Student Services, Virtual Campus, will oversee day to day functions of the virtual campus and is responsible for fostering a collaborative environment and consults with other Alliant departments including but not limited to IT, Facilities, Admissions and Student Financial Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Master's degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible higher education or closely related professional experience, preferably in graduate or professional education.
  • Supervision experience of professional staff preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office applications (especially, Word & Excel), CARS, CX integrated database or equivalent databases.
  • Advanced advising skills, effective organization and written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both in writing and verbally) with a diverse student, faculty and community.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
  • Multi-tasking abilities and exceptional interpersonal/cross-cultural communication skills.
  • High degree of multicultural and international competency.
  • Ability to organize and plan work, and complete tasks with accuracy and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Highly motivated, focused and results oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Help to facilitate seamless integration of the student experience from the point of confirmed enrollment through transfer assessment and registration, course enrollment, and course/degree completion.
  • Serve as the key person for the delivery of academic and student support services including but not limited to student advising, accessibility services, new student orientation, and student issue resolution.
  • Develop comprehensive program plans for students in assigned student population to project course enrollments and curriculum necessary for degree completion and assist with the implementation of early warnings for students to enhance student retention and success.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a proactive advising model.
  • Successfully implement strategies to increase retention and net promoter score.
  • Problem solving for student issues and concerns.
  • Lead and facilitate a customer-centered environment that is responsive and provides high-quality, timely services to students.
  • Assist program directors and faculty in the ongoing improvement of program related operating processes, procedures, and protocols, to operationalize and maintain academic standards.
  • Ensure Human Resources policies and procedures are upheld to assure compliance with the federal and state regulations, university policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.
