About The Position

The Assistant Director of Strategic Brand Development for Women's Basketball is responsible for developing and leading programming to enhance Texas Women’s Basketball student-athlete personal brands. This role includes educating student-athletes on NIL, personal branding, and market value, as well as facilitating connections with community members to promote engagement and brand building. The position requires working on-site with additional hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and involves travel. The role is expected to continue and is not suitable for remote work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and five plus years of relevant experience in student-athlete development, sports business, and brand development.
  • Demonstrated understanding of traditional and non-traditional business models, including social media influencing.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and budget management experience.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate, build, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Proven effectiveness in cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing continuous personal and professional development activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in collegiate athletics or women’s basketball.
  • Experience as a student-athlete in collegiate athletics.
  • Experience working with students or student-athletes in educational settings.
  • Significant working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with an emphasis on NIL.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a nationally-recognized student-athlete brand development program.
  • Provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of education programming and events for student-athletes.
  • Assist current student-athletes in understanding their market value and developing strategies to elevate their brands.
  • Participate in recruiting and educating prospective student-athletes on applicable rules and policies for NIL activities.
  • Facilitate connections between student-athletes and external parties in accordance with NCAA guidelines.
  • Identify and build collaborative partnerships across the University and with external partners.
  • Participate in fundraising efforts to support Texas Athletics.
  • Ensure compliance with Texas NIL law and NCAA policies regarding student-athlete NIL activities.
  • Assist the Head Women's Basketball Coach and other support staff with additional duties as assigned.
