About The Position

The Assistant Director of Residential Services is responsible for providing educational instruction to assigned students in a structured residential environment designed to promote intellectual, emotional and social growth.  He or she will assist in developing/implementing teaching plans that are appropriate to the ages and populations served, specifically children and adolescents (ages 3-21 years) with emotional, developmental and/or behavioral needs. The Assistant Director of Residential Services is responsible for assisting the Director of Residential Services in the day-to-day operation of the educational services and implementation and monitoring of all behavioral programming.  The Assistant Director of Residential Services ensures appropriate staffing resources   and the delivery of each student's Individual Education Program (IEP)/Individualized Service Plan (ISP).  He or she ensures implementation of the curriculum in conjunction with Program Coordinator, in collaboration with Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Educational Administrators, Department of Early Education and Care and Department of Developmental Services (DDS). In addition, the Assistant Director of Residential Services assists the Director of School Services to ensure that all requirements are met for acquiring and maintaining all program applicable licenses, certifications and accreditations. The Assistant Director of Residential Services is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Melmark New England Behavior Intervention Strategies: Policies and Procedures. This role will assist in the development of all clinical services within the residential settings. In addition, the position will ensure that all requirements are met for management staff to acquire and maintain clinical standards of excellence. This position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks, at times under significant stress.  The employee must be flexible with schedule and immediate availability.  Sophisticated skills are required in Human Resources, Budget Management, Educational and Clinical Systems and Massachusetts regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Prefer Master's level in Behavior Education or Applied Behavior Analysis or Education or Psychology. The position will accept a Bachelor level in Education and/or Psychology and enrolled in a Master's level program and have Board Certification for Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) at Bachelor's level.  The Master's degree must be achieved within two (2) years of employment.
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification preferred and must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
  • A valid US driver's license and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old.
  • Must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status.
  • Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements.
  • Successful completion of employer provided certification in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, and Melmark's Orientation Program and New Hire Onsite training program.
  • Training in behavior management
  • Knowledgeable of Applied  Behavior Analysis
  • Demonstrate bringing applied research to practice
  • Direct training and experience in implementing behavior assessment strategies and designing programs based on data outcome.
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of clinical supervision within an applied community setting and in implementing evidence-based procedures for individuals with challenging behaviors.
  • Experience in program management, skills in human resources, budget management, and running educational and clinical systems.
