About The Position

Under general direction, the Assistant Director of Project & Service Delivery provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for major projects and service-delivery efforts across the institution. This position oversees a portfolio of enterprise-level projects, manages and develops project management staff, ensures consistent application of departmental methodologies, and collaborates with senior leadership to advance the long-term vision for project and service-delivery excellence. The Assistant Director is responsible for aligning project and service-delivery execution with institutional priorities, optimizing resources, improving operational work﬿ows, and ensuring high-quality, reliable delivery of services across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • 10 years of progressively responsible project management experience, including leadership of large-scale technical or service delivery projects.
  • Experience leading teams and managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • (PMP) Project Management Professional Certification or
  • (CSM) ScrumMaster Certification
  • Candidates with a Master's degree and 8 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Leads planning, prioritization, and execution of mid- to large-scale projects and service-delivery initiatives that support institutional and departmental goals
  • Partners with senior leadership to develop strategic roadmaps that enhance service effectiveness, operational efficiency, and customer experience
  • Communicates project and service-delivery impacts, risks, timelines, and resource needs to executive leadership; recommends adjustments to funding, staffing, and processes; manages program and project budgets as assigned including capital expenditures
  • Oversees the full life cycle of complex projects ensuring timely delivery, scope alignment, and adherence to budget
  • Establishes governance, quality standards, and performance metrics for project and service delivery
  • Drives project expectations, risk management, issue resolution, and scope control at a program level
  • Develops approaches to prevent or correct schedule delays, cost variances, and risks affecting service commitments
  • Ensures service-delivery operations follow best practices and align with institutional requirements
  • Works with cross-functional teams to assess service gaps, optimize work﬿ows, and enhance the user experience
  • Develops documentation, reporting procedures, and service-delivery standards to support operational consistency
  • Supervises, mentors, and evaluates project management and service-delivery staff; establishes performance expectations and provides coaching
  • Monitors the health and progress of projects led by team members and intervenes when appropriate to ensure success
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus
  • Serves as a primary liaison to Business Affairs, Health System Affairs, Academic Affairs, and other institutional partners
  • Ensures clear communication, stakeholder engagement, and alignment on project and service-delivery objectives
  • Facilitates cross-department coordination to gather requirements, understand processes, and ensure successful delivery outcomes
  • Develops and maintains project and service-delivery methodologies, tools, and best practices
  • Oversees scopes of work, operational reports, progress documentation, and other departmental deliverables
  • Ensures timely, accurate communication to stakeholders regarding project status, service impacts, risks, and changes
  • Represents the department in operational and strategic discussions
  • Supports institutional initiatives and contributes to continuous improvement efforts
  • Performs other duties as assigned
