About The Position

The Assistant Director for Perioperative Services assists the Executive Director in the effective management of all aspects of Perioperative Services to include but not be limited to: Developing priorities, goals, and action plans to ensure that Cabell Huntington Hospital Perioperative Services is the place of choice for their health care services. The Assistant Director assesses compliance to best nursing practice and clinical performance; intervenes to ensure that patient care outcomes are individualized and that the best outcomes are achieved. This role will actively participate in ensuring that all practices are in compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The Assistant Director will actively participate in budget development and maintenance; service excellence (patient experience); process improvement (Lean Methodology) and quality assurance. This role will assist in the oversight of daily operations of all departments within Perioperative Services. The departments within Perioperative Services include: Endoscopy, OR Sterile, Central Sterile Supply, PAT, Outpatient Surgery, Operating Room, PACU, Surgery Scheduling, and the Cabell Surgery Center. The Assistant Director serves as a leader and role model for Perioperative employees; manages & addresses staffing concerns timely, collaborates on resource utilization, and resolves performance concerns in partnership with internal and external managers. This role assists in achieving the organization’s mission by effectively working in collaboration with the Executive Director, Operations Managers, Supervisors, Surgeons, Registered Nurses, Surgical Technicians, OR Sterile Technicians, Supply Team Leaders and Technicians, Scheduling Secretaries, OR Attendants, Patient Care Assistants, and other perioperative Support Personnel.   The Assistant Director will have broad functional skills including the ability to take the leadership role in organizational development, change management, operational excellence, employee engagement, strategic alignment, healthy work environment, patient satisfaction and physician engagement. Requirements

  • AS/Diploma required.
  • Nursing license in West Virginia required
  • Must maintain required CEU's for licensure
  • CPR required
  • 2 years of Position-Related Experience required, 5+ years preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years operating room experience in a clinical and management position.
  • A minimum of three years experience in a leadership role is required.
  • Exhibits excellent organizational skills, leadership skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and the ability to multitask and work successfully with diverse individuals and groups to achieve excellent outcomes.

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree preferred
  • Certification Specialty (CNOR) preferred
