About The Position

The Assistant Director of Operations will support the Director of Distribution Operations in managing warehouse, transportation, and operational functions within the distribution center. The role focuses on ensuring that operational results meet customer expectations, financial goals, and talent development objectives. Key responsibilities include overseeing safety, quality assurance, and training activities, as well as evaluating performance and addressing gaps in distribution center functions.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of work experience in retail operations, distribution, transportation, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • Bachelor's Degree in General Studies or related field.
  • Extensive experience in retail distribution processes, logistics, and warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with D.O.T regulations and tractor/trailer operations.
  • Strong leadership skills including team facilitation, training, and motivation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate performance and potential of all distribution center functions and address performance gaps.
  • Support preparation of and delivery against annual operation plans for campus operations.
  • Forecast and develop plans for peak and holiday staffing, equipment, and scheduling.
  • Create high customer service expectations among team members and monitor results.
  • Communicate with Account Team, Customer Service, Senior Leadership, and Customers regarding late deliveries and service gaps.
  • Direct the adoption and use of improved processes and new assets to achieve business results.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other business units to ensure customer satisfaction and drive company results.
  • Maintain a safe environment for team members and visitors in accordance with company policies and health regulations.
  • Oversee record keeping, regulatory compliance, inspections, audits, and safety training.
  • Assist in the development of individual and team performance improvement goals.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and support succession planning.
