About The Position

Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Be appreciated for what you do, all on a beautiful campus with a family atmosphere. The Pines at Davidson is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing. The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for assisting in the oversight of nursing department operations with primary emphasis on staff development and education of nursing personnel. This role participates in the recruitment, hiring, training, and counseling of nursing personnel. The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of effective training programs and education for the nursing department and assists in the supervision of nursing care to develop education to ensure nursing staff competency and exceptional quality of care. This role maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate for the population of residents served, including state required infection preventionist training and acts as the Infection Control Coordinator for the community. This role participates as a member of the health center leadership team, providing guidance and support to the nursing department and assumes responsibility for the Nursing department in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Who you are Current unrestricted license to practices as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina Experience in Nursing leadership, preferably in a CCRC setting, nursing home, or other related health care facility. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Geriatric Nursing. Knowledge of current standards of practice and the rules, regulations, and laws related to nursing practice within the long-term care industry. Ability to teach this knowledge to others. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to exercise judgement. Strong listening skills and ability to deal with conflict with professionalism and courtesy. Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to independently create documents in various programs (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Adobe), and navigate electronic medical record systems. Positive interpersonal relationship skills, including with persons of all ages and cultures. Ability to lead others and communicate effectively. Current CPR Certification.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Assists the Director of Nursing with supervising nursing care and related services in the Health Center, Wellness Clinic and Medical Record departments.
Coordinates and leads the clinical orientation to new staff members, including providing regulatory onboarding training including Infection Control, Dementia Care, and Resident Rights.
Evaluates educational needs of the nursing department based upon staff observation, rounds, resident, family, and leadership feedback and organizes and facilitates an educational plan to address needs ensuring information reflects current standards of practice and facility policies and procedures.
Develops team members focusing on clinical skills, annual compliance education, and individual team member goals.
Tracks attendance/completion of training to ensure that all required training is received by all personnel in a timely manner.
Assists the Director of Nursing with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring nursing personnel may assist the Nursing Office Manager with nursing personnel license verification and CNA certification renewals.
Responsible for conducting routine first aid training, CPR training, and recertification courses.
Monitors and implements the infection control program in accordance with current infection control guidelines to prevent the development and transmission of disease and infection.
May assist the Director of Nursing and Nursing Office Manager to evaluate staffing patterns and update staffing requirements as needed.
Assists the Director of Nursing with the talent management of the department, including evaluation of team members, staff growth and promotions, coaching and discipline of team members with inferior performance and termination of team members who do not meet expectations.
Regularly assists with the development and update of policies and procedures to reflect professional standards, best practice, and regulatory requirements.
Assists with communicating policies and procedures to nursing personnel and monitors staff practices and implementation.
Coordinates with providers of medical and ancillary care for the benefit of residents and for staff training resources.
Participates in QAPI or facility assessment activities as needed, such as carrying out duties assigned as part of a performance improvement committee.
Facilitates, serves, attends, or participates in various committees of the community as appointed.
