The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for assisting in the oversight of nursing department operations with primary emphasis on staff development and education of nursing personnel. This role participates in the recruitment, hiring, training, and counseling of nursing personnel. The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of effective training programs and education for the nursing department and assists in the supervision of nursing care to develop education to ensure nursing staff competency and exceptional quality of care. This role maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate for the population of residents served, including state required infection preventionist training and acts as the Infection Control Coordinator for the community. This role participates as a member of the health center leadership team, providing guidance and support to the nursing department and assumes responsibility for the Nursing department in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Who you are Current unrestricted license to practices as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina Experience in Nursing leadership, preferably in a CCRC setting, nursing home, or other related health care facility. Minimum 2 years’ experience in Geriatric Nursing. Knowledge of current standards of practice and the rules, regulations, and laws related to nursing practice within the long-term care industry. Ability to teach this knowledge to others. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to exercise judgement. Strong listening skills and ability to deal with conflict with professionalism and courtesy. Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to independently create documents in various programs (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Adobe), and navigate electronic medical record systems. Positive interpersonal relationship skills, including with persons of all ages and cultures. Ability to lead others and communicate effectively. Current CPR Certification.
