About The Position

This position plans, organizes, develops, directs and evaluates the nursing service operation ensuring the highest degree of quality patient care. Assists the Director of Nursing in the overall operation of the nursing department in accordance with current nursing and medical practices and procedures as well as applicable Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as directed by the facility to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times. Associate must be able to work in a 24 hour operation. Will function as the licensed Administrator in the absence of the Healthcare Administrator and Director of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse with a current State of Texas license.
  • Must be able to read regulations and write clearly.
  • Must be able to communicate in courteous, friendly manner.
  • Ability to effectively manage and direct subordinates.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc, that are necessary for providing quality resident care.

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, Masters preferred. Knowledge of Federal and State regulations, as well as OBRA laws. Ability to supervise and coordinate nursing staff. Long Term Care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, hires, orients, schedules, assigns work to, evaluates, and when necessary disciplines assigned staff members.
  • Interacts with residents, families, or visitors to solve problems, maintains goodwill and promotes positive customer relations.
  • Assist physicians in planning for the individual resident’s nursing care.
  • Assures proper nursing documentation by regular audits.
  • Participates on special projects or studies as required.
  • Attends and participates in workshops, seminars and other programs to keep abreast of changes in the healthcare field.
  • Monitors for continuous Quality Improvement, the nursing department procedures and operation on a regular basis to assure compliance with Federal and State rules and regulations, as well as, facility policies.
  • Maintains an excellent working relationship with the medical profession and other health related organizations. Represent the facility in dealings with outside agencies, including governmental agencies or provide and authorize representation when unable to attend such meetings.
  • Ensure that resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to file complaints are well established and maintained at all times.
  • Will be on call as department policy.
