About The Position

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for monitoring nursing staff, nursing activities, and patient care, ensuring all nursing activities comply with federal, state, and local standards. This role involves assisting the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department. The ADON also participates in developing, maintaining, and updating policies and procedures, acts as a team member, leader, and supervisor, and performs administrative duties.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one-year experience in nursing service administration required
  • Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York required
  • Must be able to demonstrate age-specific knowledge of developmental factors for adult and geriatric residents
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, problem-solving, and conflict resolution
  • Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
  • Strong customer service skills and compassion

Nice To Haves

  • Education or experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, following current rules, regulations, and guidelines
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating our written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the department
  • Act as a team member, team leader, and supervisor to ensure work is accomplished and quality care is delivered
  • Support team members and leaders in a way that celebrates and encourages hard work and success
  • Ensure that all nursing personnel are following their respective job descriptions
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
  • Help determine staffing needs
  • Provide direct nursing care as necessary
