GENERAL PURPOSE: Plays a crucial role in supporting the overall nursing leadership team by overseeing the implementation of evidence-based nursing practices, ensuring quality patient care delivery, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the nursing department. Collaborate with nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, and administration to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and standards that align with regulatory requirements and best practices in healthcare. Through leadership and guidance, contribute to the enhancement of patient outcomes, staff development, and organizational excellence in healthcare delivery. FT The Assistant Director (AD) of Nursing for Cardiac Care, Thoracic, and Dialysis provides operational, regulatory, and clinical leadership across a complex, multi-unit service line. This role partners closely with the Director of Nursing and fellow Assistant Directors to ensure high-quality, safe, and compliant patient care across inpatient and procedural environments. The AD plays a critical leadership role in emergency preparedness, regulatory readiness, and operational performance while fostering a collaborative, communicative, and accountable nursing culture.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or related healthcare field (required).
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably within cardiac, thoracic, critical care, or dialysis settings.
  • Experience across both inpatient and procedural environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct leadership and oversight for assigned inpatient and/or outpatient units within the Cardiac Care, Thoracic, and Dialysis service line.
  • Lead emergency preparedness planning, response coordination, and recovery efforts for the entirety of the cardiac service line, ensuring staff readiness and system resilience.
  • Support operational management, including staffing, workflow optimization, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety efforts.
