About The Position

Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare is looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing to join our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) team. The Assistant Director of Nursing provides nursing leadership and oversight for clinical service delivery of a 16-bed acute mental health inpatient facility, ensuring the provision of compassionate, high-quality care to individuals served. As a critical nursing leadership role, this position supports the Director of Nursing in managing and directing daily nursing functions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, maintaining compliance with regulations, and optimizing performance of clinical and non-clinical staff. Duties and responsibilities for this role will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Requirements

  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Texas
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing education program
  • Ability to pass Computer competency, Outlook and Typing test (30wpm)
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs and pass physical agility exam
  • Competent computer skills and ability to navigate in an electronic health record and other technology-based platforms
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and be insurable through Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of nursing leadership experience preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and administrative support for the Registered Nurses (RNs) and Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) positions at the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU).
  • Coordinate and maintain daily coverage for all shifts, ensuring appropriate coverage for all shifts, in alignment with state and contract standards for a CSU.
  • Provide clinical coverage for critical vacancies or when needed to ensure continuity of operations on the unit.
  • Provide staff with training and input regarding clinical intervention including emergency response.
  • Participate in interviews with potential new employees in alignment with necessary staffing pattern needs.
  • Provide in-depth, position-specific training for RN and PNA positions.
  • Provide ongoing auditing of RN and PNA documentation for quality purposes and to ensure compliance with contract requirements, regulatory guidelines, and licensure standards.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and providers, fostering a culture of collaboration, teamwork, and professional growth across a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure infection control practices are followed in accordance with Tri-County policies and procedures.
  • Promote appropriate communication practices for consultation with on-call providers, as needed.
  • Complete data tracking activities and monitoring of programmatic outcomes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality metrics.
  • Problem solve daily tasks to ensure optimal programmatic functioning.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Provide guidance to CSU staff by phone, after-hours when needed.
  • Promote a trauma informed, recovery-oriented environment and approach to care.
