About The Position

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Arbors at Stow plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Nursing in administrative duties and supervising nursing staff. This position is designed for experienced RNs who are looking to advance their careers in a stable and rewarding environment, contributing to the compassionate care of residents in a skilled nursing facility. The ADON will be responsible for ensuring compliance with nursing standards, facilitating communication between nursing units, and overseeing the professional development of nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Valid RN license in the state of employment (preferred) or valid LPN license if not an RN.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Seven years of nursing experience, with at least two years in a supervisory role in a long-term care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing with administrative duties and supervision of nursing staff.
  • Act as a liaison between nursing units, admissions, and the Director of Nursing.
  • Plan and facilitate meetings and committees to address resident care issues.
  • Monitor weekly and monthly weights of residents.
  • Evaluate nursing staff performance and recommend training or modifications to the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure compliance with meal and break regulations for staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental budgets.
  • Monitor meal temperatures and quality of meal trays.
  • Perform personnel management functions including establishing qualification requirements and drafting procedure manuals.
  • Monitor resident satisfaction and address any concerns promptly.
  • Conduct studies to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing services.
  • Audit nursing charts weekly for compliance with documentation standards.
  • Ensure timely completion of annual competency evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Proactively address survey and standards of care issues.
  • Participate in the nurse on-call system and represent the Director of Nursing in their absence.
  • Work with the Staffing Coordinator to ensure adequate nursing staff coverage.
  • Conduct daily rounds on nursing units to ensure resident needs are met.
