Requirements

  • Completion of a professional nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing for the state in which the facility is located.
  • Current License as a Practical Nurse for the state in which the facility is located. Current Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and emergency care
  • Leadership; achieves established goals through inspiration and loyalty of staff.
  • Resilience: ability to welcome constructive feedback, course correct and not take it personally
  • Personability; ability to get along with all personality types and inspire trust with residents, staff, family
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ)
  • Ability to actively listen, with the goal of understanding.
  • Ability to clearly speak and proficiently read, write and understand English.

  • Experience in skilled nursing and/or assisted living community.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in supervising the assignment and scheduling of Nursing staff to meet resident needs.
  • Provides nursing care on shift when needed.
  • Assists and cooperates with medical staff.
  • Assists in solving nursing service problems.
  • Assists in Implementing company forms/systems and policies and procedures.
  • Assists in supervising the maintenance of records of nursing, medical and related services.
  • Assists in validating the accuracy of MDS and Care Plans
  • Supports the facility quality improvement program.
  • Conducts in-service programs and orientation programs.
  • Reviews physician orders daily and monthly and participates in triple check process.
  • As requested, assists with DON responsibilities
  • Supervises and evaluates implementation of Residents Rights
  • Participates and attends periodic in-services and staff meetings.
  • ADONs may oversee special focus areas which include Wound care, Infection Prevention, Restorative, Assisted living, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Participates in on-call rotation.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the ADON manages, supervises, articulates expectations, and provides corrective guidance as needed.
  • Prioritizes work assignments consistent with level of staff available and resident care acuity.
