About The Position

This recruitment is for two positions. Both will function as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Court-Involved, at the managerial level of work, assisting the Director of Nursing, CTPHC, managing the day to day operations, and in developing and implementing goals, objectives, standards, policies and procedures for the nursing department at Clifton T Perkins Hospital Center (CTPHC) where care is provided to mentally ill patients who have been judged not criminally responsible for committing felonies, and to those who are difficult to manage in a less secure setting and who have been deemed dangerous to themselves or others. ADON's at Clifton T Perkins Hospital Center are subject to call-in. The responsibility principally includes the day-to-day management of the nursing department but also includes regulatory compliance, standards of care compliance, scheduling compliance, management of personnel as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer. The positions supervise Registered Nurse Managers, CI and, through them indirectly supervises Registered Nurse Supervisors, CI and subordinate staff.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Nursing or a health related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric setting including two years in a supervisory, consultative, teaching or administrative capacity.
  • Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
  • Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
  • Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in managing day to day clinical/nursing operations in an acute hospital or in-patient behavioral hospital
  • Experience managing staffing office/scheduling
  • Expert knowledge of TJC, COMAR and CMS regulations of a behavioral health hospital
  • Experience in providing training and education to nursing employees
  • Flexibility in assisting the nursing department as situations arise.
