The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing (DON) in directing the activities of both licensed and non-licensed personnel. Requirements

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered RN license.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse clinical team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the DON in planning, developing, and supervising nursing staff activities while providing overall management and support to the clinical team.
  • Oversee daily clinical operations, including making rounds and monitoring resident conditions to ensure safety and quality of care.
  • Collaborate with the DON to recruit, hire, and train nursing staff.
  • Assist with performance appraisals and resolve personnel issues, including disciplinary actions.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of nursing objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes to ensure facility compliance.
  • Act as a liaison between residents, family members, and physicians.
  • Provide regular reports and recommendations to the DON regarding nursing operations.
  • Conduct ongoing in-service training for nursing staff to ensure consistent care delivery and the promotion of resident rights.
  • Serve as back-up for DON, RN, and LVN staff, providing direct resident care as needed to maintain facility standards.
