About The Position

The Assistant Director of Maintenance – Part 145 is responsible for supporting the Director of Maintenance in the overall management, regulatory compliance, and operational oversight of the Part 145 Repair Station. This role ensures all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with the Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company policies. The Assistant Director plays a critical leadership role in maintaining airworthiness standards, promoting a strong Safety Management System (SMS), and ensuring operational efficiency within hangar and maintenance operations.

Requirements

  • Active FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate (Required).
  • Strong knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations and Repair Station compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, including documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of safety awareness and adherence to SMS principles.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends as operationally required.
  • Willingness to travel between facilities as necessary.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years in a supervisory or management role within a Part 145 Repair Station preferred.
  • Experience interacting with FAA inspectors and regulatory audits.
  • No certificate actions, misdemeanors, or felonies that would impact eligibility for FAA approval.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States of America.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, regulatory documents, and engineering data.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with technicians, inspectors, executive leadership, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to remain composed and make sound decisions in high-pressure maintenance environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum three (3) years in a supervisory or management role within a Part 145 Repair Station preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in administering the Part 145 Repair Station in accordance with the FAA-approved RSM and QCM.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to maintenance supervisors, technicians, inspectors, and support staff.
  • Ensure all maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations are performed in compliance with FAA regulations and manufacturer data.
  • Oversee work scope planning, manpower allocation, and project timelines to meet operational demands.
  • Coordinate closely with Quality Assurance to ensure proper documentation, inspections, and airworthiness releases.
  • Ensure training requirements for all Part 145 personnel are current and properly documented.
  • Support internal audits and represent the Repair Station during FAA audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Monitor safety performance and promote a positive Safety Management System (SMS) culture.
  • Ensure proper tooling, equipment, and facilities are maintained to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee parts procurement coordination to ensure traceability, certification, and proper documentation.
  • Manage short-term maintenance escalations and AOG events when necessary.
  • Conduct regular department meetings to communicate safety, compliance, and operational objectives.
  • Maintain professional and respectful interactions with customers, vendors, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance – Part 145.
