About The Position

The Assistant Director of HR plays a pivotal role in supporting the strategic and operational functions of the Human Resources department within the organization. This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of HR policies, programs, and initiatives that align with the company’s goals and culture. The Assistant Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership to drive talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, and compliance with labor laws. By overseeing day-to-day HR operations, this role ensures a positive employee experience and fosters a productive work environment. Ultimately, the Assistant Director of HR contributes to building a resilient workforce that supports the organization’s long-term success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in human resources, including experience in employee relations and recruitment.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices within the United States.
  • Proficiency with HR information systems (HRIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources Management or an MBA with HR focus.
  • Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
  • Experience working in a multi-state or national organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing HR teams or projects.
  • Familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and executing HR strategies that support organizational objectives and enhance employee satisfaction.
  • Manage recruitment processes including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding to attract top talent.
  • Oversee employee relations by addressing concerns, facilitating conflict resolution, and promoting a respectful workplace culture.
  • Support performance management programs by coordinating evaluations, providing guidance to managers, and identifying development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, maintaining accurate HR records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to design and implement training and development initiatives that enhance employee skills and career growth.
  • Analyze HR metrics and prepare reports to inform decision-making and continuous improvement of HR practices.
  • Participate in compensation and benefits administration to maintain competitive and equitable employee offerings.
