About The Position

The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual for the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid - Generalist at its Philadelphia campus. This role is pivotal in supporting the financial aid administration for students across multiple campuses, including those in Suwanee and Moultrie, Georgia. The Assistant Director will work under the supervision of the Associate Director of Financial Aid and will be responsible for various aspects of financial aid management, particularly focusing on federal work-study and federal loans. This position is hybrid eligible, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work. In this role, the Assistant Director will provide comprehensive financial aid counseling to both prospective and enrolled students. This includes assisting with budget appeals, loan advances, Return of Title IV funds, Graduate PLUS processing, verification, and the resolution of C Comment codes. The incumbent will also be responsible for awarding outside scholarships and conducting exit counseling for students. A significant part of the role involves delivering financial literacy counseling to help students make informed borrowing decisions and understand their loan repayment options. The Assistant Director will be expected to respond promptly and professionally to student inquiries, proactively addressing and resolving any issues that arise. The Assistant Director will also play a key role in program management, assisting in the administration of the federal direct loan program, which disburses over $160 million annually, and supporting the federal work-study program that awards over $1.5 million each year. Additionally, the Assistant Director will contribute to the financial literacy program, including conducting institutional exit counseling. Regular review of Argos and Banner reports will be necessary to ensure the accuracy and quality of financial aid processing. The Assistant Director will assist the Associate Director in the overall administration of federal, state, institutional, and private aid programs and will perform other duties as assigned.
