About The Position

The Assistant Director of Environmental Services is responsible for managing and coordinating activities related to air quality management within Hamilton County. This role involves supervising senior air quality managers, developing and implementing the Air Quality Program, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The position also includes budget preparation, technical analysis of environmental issues, and representation of the air quality program to various stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• 8 to 10 years of experience in air quality practices, regulations, and management.
• Management experience demonstrating the ability to work with employees.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate activities for air quality management, including supervision of senior air quality managers.
• Develop, implement, and monitor the Air Quality Program.
• Oversee administrative, financial, and technical functions required by state and federal contracts.
• Direct the enforcement program and activities related to air quality monitoring.
• Research, compile, and analyze environmental issues concerning air quality, water quality, and solid waste.
• Provide technical information and advice to aid in decision-making regarding air quality management.
• Schedule meetings and conduct presentations to community organizations and regulatory agencies.
• Review and make recommendations concerning solid waste contracts with health departments.
• Work with contractors to maintain and improve air monitoring sites and department operations.
• Coordinate air quality planning with federal, state, and regional regulatory agencies.
