About The Position

Reporting to the VP, Product Evolution, the Assistant Director of Education Projects plays a pivotal role in advancing AAPA’s portfolio of learning products (including continuing medical education). This role blends product strategy, innovation, and strategic market insight to enhance learning products value and revenue (both direct and indirect via membership bundling). With advanced knowledge of the healthcare education ecosystem, the Assistant Director will identify needs, uncover opportunities, and leverage data-driven insights to guide strategy. They will identify opportunities, develop business cases, develop product roadmaps, and oversee the development of a portfolio of learning products.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in developing learning products, with a strong grasp of product discovery, development, launch, and continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to analyze data, extract insights, and translate them into actionable strategies and product decisions
  • Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Comfort navigating complex organizational structures and aligning diverse teams around shared goals
  • Strategic thinker with an orientation towards action and results
  • Ability to travel as needed for business or team collaboration
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8+ years of experience in learning or education product strategy, development, market research, ideally in a healthcare or edtech or nonprofit setting

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred, ideally in education development, product management or related field
  • Experience developing continuing medication education (CME) products for healthcare providers and knowledge of the CME accreditation process is preferred
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is preferred
  • Experience as a Physician Associate (PA) or other healthcare provider a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research and competitive intelligence research to understand healthcare learning trends and inform innovation and strategy.
  • Design and execute qualitative and quantitative research efforts as needed to assess audience needs, preferences, satisfaction, and perceived value.
  • Conduct ongoing benchmarking of learning services to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Translate research findings into actionable insights for cross-departmental teams and senior leadership, ensuring CME owners across the organization are equipped with market intelligence to steer decisions.
  • Apply data analysis and customer insights (e.g. behavior patterns, utilization, completion rates, satisfaction) to inform product iterations and enhancements.
  • Evaluate potential new product lines like certifications or micro certificates and alternative delivery models.
  • Engage advisory groups, clinical experts, and learners as needed to ground strategy in current, real-world needs.
  • Design innovative educational experiences, driving relevance, differentiation, and impact.
  • Provide guidance on the overall content strategy for AAPA’s learning portfolio.
  • Collaborate with and advise other CME owners across the organization to ensure alignment and coherence across the education portfolio.
  • Develop product roadmaps and strategies for AAPA’s learning portfolio, supporting ongoing engagement, value and revenue.
  • Partner with internal teams on product launches, develop pricing models for CME, and inform go-to-market strategies.
  • Develop and manage new lines of CME products to expand AAPA’s portfolio and revenue.
  • Support other CME owners in their ongoing optimization and road mapping of their CME products.
  • Lead annual planning and budgeting for their assigned learning portfolio; track and report on KPIs such as revenue, engagement, satisfaction, and ROI.
  • Work with the Senior Analyst to track learning products and services, connecting utilization to membership value/retention and/or AAPA revenue.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, IT, Analytics, and Finance teams to produce dashboards and insights that inform product and go-to-market decisions.
