About The Position

The Assistant Director of the Office of Educator Preparation and Licensure (OEPL) at Springfield College is responsible for leading and coordinating field experience and practicum placements for teacher preparation programs. This role serves as a liaison among various stakeholders, including PK-12 school administrators, university faculty, and students, while ensuring compliance with state licensure requirements. The Assistant Director also supports the daily operations of the OEPL and assists in maintaining program approval status with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-3 years of directly related experience.
  • Ability to learn and develop knowledge of state and federal regulations related to teacher and counselor licensure requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency with computer software/platforms (Google suite tools, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills (verbal & written).
  • Strong administrative, management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate, problem solve, and respond to inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of DESE CAP Online Platform.
  • Experience with Qualtrics survey platform.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management of field experiences and student teaching placements for all teacher preparation programs.
  • Assist the Director in the administration and coordination of all phases of the education licensure programs.
  • Incorporate regulation changes to the DESE Program Approval for Ed Prep programs to maintain approval status.
  • Work individually with students pursuing student teaching placements outside the geographic designation.
  • Establish placement sites and lead special application processes for student placements.
  • Ensure successful start to practicum/field experiences by collaborating with university supervisors and school district teachers.
  • Obtain necessary security clearances for students prior to practicum/field placements.
  • Co-manage regulatory policies to meet DESE criteria, including clearance verification and mediation for issues.
  • Support the Director in maintaining the DESE Roster of Attending Students enrolled in Educator Prep programs.
  • Manage MTEL voucher application and approval process, maintaining records of students who have applied for waivers.
  • Secure fieldwork sites for all practica and clinical experiences.
  • Prepare licensure materials and provide information regarding licensure to various constituencies.
  • Generate self-study narratives and analyze data for accreditation activities.
  • Serve as a liaison to external constituencies involved in collaboration projects administered by the OEPL.
  • Support the Director with processing purchase orders and ensuring timely vendor payments.
  • Hire and supervise graduate assistants or student workers, coordinating workflow and task delegation.
  • Oversee maintenance of all required files and documentation for DESE compliance.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Office of Educator Preparation & Licensure, including record keeping and scheduling.
