About The Position

Welcome to LaGuardia Community College, where we are dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of our diverse student body. As the Assistant Director of Career Services (Student Career Program Specialist), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the career development opportunities available to our students. Reporting to the Director of the Center for Career & Professional Development, your primary focus will be on building and nurturing relationships with employers, community partners, and alumni to create valuable experiential learning opportunities such as internships, employment opportunities, and service-learning projects. In this role, you will collaborate closely with faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners to ensure a robust and comprehensive career services program that aligns with the institution's mission and strategic goals. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with local, regional, and national employers, organizing employer outreach activities, and assisting with the administration of experiential learning programs. Your efforts will contribute significantly to the strategic planning and implementation of career services initiatives, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for their future careers. As part of your responsibilities, you will also advise and mentor students on their academic and career goals, providing one-on-one career counseling sessions and designing career-related workshops and programs. Your ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment will be essential as you supervise and mentor career services staff, interns, and student workers.
