About The Position

The Assistant Director of Cancer Coordination is responsible for assisting with the development of processes to enhance the service line's performance on key nationally standardized quality metrics, including those defined by the American College of Surgeons (CoC and NAPBC). This role involves managing the daily operations of the departments effectively and efficiently, supporting the Director in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and hiring staff tailored to the specific needs of the patient population. The Assistant Director will conduct timely evaluations for staff members, assist in setting and reviewing goals, and foster an environment where staff can seek feedback or voice concerns. Adherence to hospital HR policies is essential, and the Assistant Director will keep the Director informed of departmental activities and issues. Additionally, this position involves developing, implementing, and reviewing ongoing education plans for staff, collaborating with other medical center employees, and serving as a clinical resource under the Director's supervision. The Assistant Director will supervise multi-position employees and operationalize the communicated direction and objectives of the Director, while performing all other duties related to the position.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of total related work experience.
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Team building ability and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Leadership or management experience preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Graduate from an accredited RN program.
  • Must possess a valid South Carolina or compact (multi-state) RN license.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology Certified Nurse certification.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other medical center employees, directors, and medical staff.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to staff, other hospital areas, students, and families.
  • Supervises multi-position employees to contribute to overall goals.
  • Develops and operationalizes communicated direction and objectives of the Director.
  • Performs all other duties as they relate to this position.
