About The Position

The Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Intramurals and Facilities is responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, and assessing intramural team sports, individual sports, and special events. This role requires proficiency in the SE software system related to intramural sports and involves creating and updating intramural web pages. The Assistant Director will also develop and execute a marketing plan for the intramural sport program, collaborate with the Office of Residence Life, and maintain social media accounts for the Office of Campus Recreation. Additionally, the position includes enforcing and revising policies and procedures for intramural sports, developing administrative forms, and submitting weekly progress reports to the Associate Director of Athletics for Campus Recreation. The role also involves creating new special events based on feedback from students and maintaining a log of intramural events. The Assistant Director will hire, train, and supervise student staff, coordinate risk management practices, and provide superior customer service to all campus recreation patrons.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Recreation, Student Personnel, Sports Management preferred.
  • A minimum of two years professional experience in collegiate intramural sports programming preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and DSE.
  • Effective communication skills, including written, interpersonal, and public speaking.
  • Prior experience supervising staff and conducting training sessions.
  • Evening and weekend hours required.

Nice To Haves

  • Membership in National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) or willingness to obtain.
  • Registry of Collegiate Recreational Professionals (RCRP) or Certified Recreational Sports Specialist (CRSS) or willingness to obtain.
  • American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certification required; instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, coordinate, and assess intramural team sports, individual sports, and special events.
  • Proficient in the use of the SE software system as it relates to intramural sports.
  • Create and update intramural web pages.
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan for the intramural sport program.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Residence Life to market a variety of intramural and special event programming.
  • Update and maintain social media accounts for the Office of Campus Recreation.
  • Enforce, evaluate, and revise policies, procedures, rules, and regulations for all intramural sports.
  • Develop administrative forms, promotional flyers, assessment/surveys, training manuals, and presentations for intramural sports.
  • Submit weekly progress reports and updates to the Associate Director of Athletics for Campus Recreation.
  • Create and implement new special events based on feedback from students and current market trends.
  • Partner with other departments to develop co-sponsored events.
  • Maintain a log of intramural events including participants, scores, sportsmanship evaluations, and marketing means.
  • Utilize the DSE system for student and team registration for all intramural and special events.
  • Hire, train, develop, schedule, supervise, and evaluate federal work study student supervisors, officials, and scorekeepers.
  • Develop high-level officials’ training utilizing innovative technological programs.
  • Lead bi-weekly training sessions for student officials.
  • Supervise and approve payroll for all student employees through Workday.
  • Coordinate proactive risk management practices for all intramural sport offerings.
  • Oversee the registration of students in DSE and maintain informal recreation equipment.
  • Create an environment that promotes and facilitates student learning and development.
  • Participate in the student development program including new employee orientation and ongoing training sessions.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and other divisional or departmental meetings.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, coordinating, and evaluating departmental special events.
  • Participate in other department initiatives, programs, and committees as required.

  • Annual base salary range of $41,400.00 - $55,200.00.
