About The Position

The position involves overseeing the After School Program (ASP) and ensuring that all operations run smoothly. The individual will demonstrate positive leadership, act as a role model for staff and families, and maintain a positive environment for both staff and students. Responsibilities include supervising counselors, ensuring adherence to employment policies, and maintaining communication with parents regarding their children's activities and needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred
  • Prior supervisor experience is required
  • Prior experience working with children is required
  • Prior experience working in After School Program is required
  • Must be a team player and enjoy working with youths
  • Must be dependable and able to meet the required schedule of the department
  • Must have strong leadership skills and be self-motivated
  • Must have excellent time management skills
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Google and Microsoft suites

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/RTE/ First Aid certifications are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate positive leadership
  • Act as a role model to the staff and all families serviced
  • Patrol rooms to assess counselors' and supervisors' performance and to ensure a positive room tone
  • Ensure that counselors and staff are adhering to the H.E.S. employment policies
  • Complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Inform the Director of all matters involving staff and students of the H.E.S. After School Program
  • Establish a clear separation between supervisor and counselor
  • Ensure appropriate dress for counselors and staff
  • Ensure students' supplies are stocked and available
  • Maintain Parent Homework Completion Logs for all groups
  • Make xerographs prior to the day they are needed
  • Ensure computers are functioning before students' arrival
  • Update attendance sheets monthly (bus and room)
  • Facilitate daily transportation for safe transitions from school to H.E.S.
  • Prepare alternate activities for groups
  • Ensure all groups transition to their activities on time
  • Prepare rooms prior to students' arrival
  • Greet parents and maintain positive relationships with them
  • Inform parents of occurrences involving their child(ren)
  • Fill out and file homework monitoring sheets daily
  • Contact parents daily regarding write-ups from homework monitoring sheets
  • Maintain a professional rapport with parents
  • Facilitate family engaging activities once a month
  • Maintain sign-out books and date each page
  • Accurately collect and record attendance in a timely manner
  • Care for supplies
  • Actively participate in all aspects of professional development
  • Support the Director in operational components of the After School Program
  • Collaborate with the Registration Department to confirm children's documentation
  • Maintain a professional rapport with the schools serviced
  • Take, maintain, and record attendance to support ACS and DYCD SONYC requirements
  • Keep the ASP office clean and organized
  • Charge and maintain walkie-talkies
  • Supervise children and staff during on-site activities
  • Supervise children and staff during off-site trips
  • Support the facilitation of activities by activity specialists
  • Communicate with parents
  • Work under the supervision of the Assistant Camp Director & Camp Director
  • Be punctual
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the Director
