The Assistant Director of Advising will provide appropriate and effective academic advising to an assigned caseload of students. Performs integrated academic advising and consultation of prospective, current, and former students in the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences. Assesses academic level and advises on academic programs and changes. Develops academic plans and class schedules. Assists students in exploring careers, evaluating academic abilities and setting goals. Presents academic information to orientation groups and potential students and parents. Analyzes transfer evaluations and transcripts to determine class credit to be awarded. Maintains appropriate records. Responsible for sustaining an environment of academic and professional excellence for students and educational team members. The Assistant Director of Advising supports student life and learning through student advocacy, academic coaching, customer service, campus and community referrals, institutional outreach and course scheduling. The Assistant Director of Advising works closely with all campus departments to support retention and persistence endeavors.
