About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the effective delivery of an exceptional MBA experience for approximately 950+ Full-time, Flex, and Flex Online MBA students. This includes activities and responsibilities relating to both the academic and co-curricular components of the MBA program. Assistant Directors serve as academic and program advisors for multiple cohorts of students in each class of either the Full-time, Flex, or Flex Online MBA Program—overall 140-210 students, depending on which program and cohort they are currently advising. Successfully advising these diverse groups of students requires not just a solid understanding of a complicated program with many different details and policies, but also the ability to assess, interpret, and advise based on the unique situations and backgrounds of each student. In supporting students from initial onboarding through graduation, this position provides counsel on a range of student life cycle issues, including academic progress, academic program policies, financial aid, visa services, student life, student activities and/or programs and services, accessibility, and community standards, in order to assist students in making appropriate choices and decisions. Meetings and events happen frequently and all throughout the day and at times, evenings and weekends. As needed, s/he also serves as general liaison with other university offices (e.g., University Registrar, Academic Resource Center, Counseling and Psychiatric Service, Office of Global Services) to support students with any academic or personal issues. This Assistant Director will also play an instrumental role in developing messaging and programming to welcome incoming MBA students and support current students; liaising between students, Program Office and Admissions team members, and leadership; working with faculty on exam administration; and training and supervising a team of students responsible for serving as the first point of contact for prospective students and visitors. This Assistant Director will also provide support to the deans in the MBA Program Office on timely strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the MBA student experience. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-3 years in a student services or equivalent role and/or higher education environment required
  • Must be proficient with Google Workspace, including Google Sheets/Excel
  • Must be a multi-tasker, extremely organized, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and be able to work under tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a University setting, especially with customer/student facing role, highly preferred
  • Familiarity with student information systems and platforms is a plus
  • Experience with MBA or other professional graduate programs preferred
  • Master’s degree in higher education, business administration, or relevant field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary academic and program cohort advisor, providing individualized guidance on academic progress, program policies, and student success issues from onboarding through graduation
  • Act as liaison between students and university offices to resolve academic, administrative, and personal issues affecting student progress.
  • Coordinate and support academic and co-curricular components of the MBA program, including exam administration, tutoring support, registration, and initiatives that enhance engagement and retention.
  • Provide operational and project support to MBA Program Office leadership and deans on strategic initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Train and supervise a team of student employees who serve as the first point of contact for prospective students and visitors.
  • Some evening and weekend work is required
