About The Position

Under general direction conducts research and performs investigations, identifies and assesses risk and safety exposures, and develops risk mitigation strategies and assesses business impacts. Directs and coordinates the delivery of cross-functional projects. Serves as a risk management representative on committees. Provides oversight of the Program Coordinator, Sr. Assists with the creation, management and implementation of strategic goals in daily operations. Partners with ADOA Risk Management, Office of General Counsel, Facilities Management and Environmental Health and Safety and others for the regular risk exposure monitoring and reporting to ensure organizational compliance with risk management policies and loss prevention programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Identify risk exposures, assess risk and evaluate potential impact on all aspects of complex business operations affecting all aspects of operational, compliance, reputational, and financial risks.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining a system-wide risk management framework designed to identify, assess, manage, and mitigate risks.
  • Assist in coordinating the completion of annual risk assessment survey to ADOA Risk Management.
  • Collaborates with State of Arizona to manage insurance programs for ASU.
  • Direct the management of all insurance claims and develops claim resolution options with the State of Arizona and the departments.
  • Convene periodic loss prevention meetings of campus stakeholders, organizing annual meetings, creates presentations, facilitates root cause analysis discussions, interprets insurance policies and continuous monitoring to reduce loss to the University.
  • Develops and prepares claims and loss trend reports and year-end statements for senior leaders.
  • Provides training to risk management staff. maintains two-way dialogue; encourages staff, and monitors work in-progress. Coaches staff on achieving departmental goals and supports the development of necessary skills to ensure success in departmental and university initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to Provost Office for high-risk travel.
  • Manages requests for Certificates of Insurance to be issued on self-insurance; obtains certificates from the broker on purchased insurance coverages based on the analysis.
  • Consults with stakeholders to assist with interpretation, to identify and implement best practices, to problem solve, plan, train, advise the University community and implement risk management topics.
  • Conducts research using multiple tools and resources to analyze information, and assist with the development, administration and implementation of risk mitigation strategies to support all aspects of business operations.
  • Assists in the development of project plans and implementation of strategies.
  • Assists in the risk assessment process in coordination with Supply Chain and other departments regarding procurement contracts.
  • Assists with and/or facilitate the gathering or risk data for reporting and to perform risk and financial analysis of business processes and programs.
  • Assists with and performs risk and financial analysis of business process and program.
  • Provides technical expertise, assists in managing the development of processes and procedures in the management of risk.
  • Performs loss investigations, inspections and claims administration.
  • Review and advice on legal documents to assist in mitigating risks.
  • Stays abreast of emerging risk issues.
