The Assistant Director for Student Leadership Programs at The Ohio State University plays a pivotal role in directing and implementing programs that focus on leadership for social change and engaged citizenship. This position is integral to the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement, where the Assistant Director will work to integrate leadership development into various programs and resources. The individual will oversee several annual programs, including the LeaderShape Institute, Leadership Week, Leadership Certificates, and Leadership Awards, ensuring that these initiatives are effectively executed and aligned with the university's mission of fostering student development and engagement. In addition to program oversight, the Assistant Director will advise and train the Student Leadership Advocates, a team of peer educators, in collaboration with the Coordinator of Student Leadership. This role also involves facilitating leadership workshops and retreats for student organizations and campus departments, providing essential training and support to enhance leadership skills among students. The Assistant Director will supervise the Coordinator for Student Leadership Development, a Graduate Associate, and two undergraduate student employees, ensuring that the team operates effectively and meets its objectives. The position also includes managing the Non-Profit Immersion Program, advising student participants, and overseeing a programming budget of approximately $40,000, which includes sponsorship stewardship. The Assistant Director will be responsible for creating new programming opportunities for students at all levels, contributing to a diverse and inclusive environment that reaches a broad student audience. This role requires a strong foundation in research and assessment, relevant theory and literature, and effective practices to design and deliver impactful programs and resources. The Assistant Director will also participate in the student life leadership group, contributing to the overall strategic direction of student engagement initiatives.
